if you haven't seen the thread that brought this on, read it here (and feel free to discuss it there too, as this is just a closed sticky):
after taking the posts and the votes into account (as well as the breakdown of MD posters that voted for each option), i've come to the decision to try the "anything goes" approach. if it doesn't work out for whatever reason, then obviously the only thing left to do would be to close MD til the next election.
this new approach is no way meant to encourage you to be nasty towards each other. on the contrary if you have to resort to insults, you're probably losing the argument. it just means that we will no longer actively babysit this section, and the strikes for general insults/personal attacks will no longer apply. obviously though, if you start posting death threats or anything else considered extreme, you will be dealt with via exclusions from MD or an outright ban depending on the severity. so don't be a complete psychopath is basically the message here.
flags remain the same, you are entitled to flag anyone for a personal attack and if the post gets enough flags it will be flagged out like before. you are not entitled to flag posts just because you disagree with them, this also remains the same as before.
also, this "anything goes" thing only applies to MD since you guys have proven you're unable to have a civil debate in here. do not let it spill over to any other section of the forums, the rules everywhere else remain the same.
