recorded it and watched it this morning.. only to find that it stopped recording just as the flame entered the stadium. 
up to that point, i liked the first bit and how it transformed to the industrial age. after that i though it was kind of a mess. not impressive in terms of performance (no synchronization like in beijing, not that anyone could outdo them in that department), nor in terms of technology.
overall the highlight was probably mr bean, which in itself is saying a lot. at least nothing went majorly wrong i guess, although i still have to watch the lighting of the cauldron.

Agreed. It looked like an overlong Super Bowl halftime show. And I don't particularity like those either.
But only watched the first half, when the athletes started to file in I went to bed.
What was the kids in beds thing? And why was it particularity British?
The choreography during the music was atrocious. So was some of the music.
I couldn't understand what was happening even with the benefit of Tv close-ups. god knows how some poor bastard on the other-side of the stadium was supposed to be figuring it all out.
