Harbin?
I will bet good money most of those sculptures are from Harbin's International Ice and Snow sculpture competition. I was there in '04 with my wife and was blown away by the scope of most of the carvings. It was a far grander display than the Bon Homme festival in Quebec. If you're ever in China in Feb. I highly recommend it!

Heat, heat??? It's been raining here for the last month or so 
It's been the wettest summer since the records started, and it really feels like it!
So if you have too much Sun, please send some over here to Blighty, the fields are flooded, the river is unnavigable as you can't go against the current or under the bridges and every time I step out the door I get soaked.
Now you really know I'm English, I've just moaned about the weather!

just came back from Alaska... damn those glaciers are melting fast.  it was nice because the temps were comfortable, but sad because the glaciers were all calving.
