Ah yes I didn't look at the name properly. I just saw Planet of the Apes, which was the one with Heston in, when I was a kid.

So they used gravitational time dilation, instead of velocity time dilation, interesting! If the ship went through the black hole, then it wouldn't be coming back out of it. But if they got it to go around and around the outside of the black hole, then that would do the trick.

Default Cabin in the Woods

Cabin in the woods

I'll likely come back to this review in a few weeks once enough people have had a chance to see it and then discuss it a little more.

But for now I just have to say, if you're a fan of the horror genre, this is an absolute must see. Not for any groundbreaking effects or any new type of shocking horror revalation. In fact, this movie is quite textbook when it comes to the actual horror parts. And that's what makes it great.

I can't get into details without ruining the movie but it pays homage/tribute to the horror greats all while also calling them out for always being the same.

What scream did to the slasher genre, hopefully this will do to the horror genre.

My only disappointment in it, was some execution but the plot and overall feel made up for it.

If you haven't seen the trailers, don't watch them, but if you have, you still should be surprised.

I seen it last week and I loved it. The movie put an interesting twist to a slasher movie.

I must say that this movie was full of surprises. Most horror movies now are predictable. With this movie, I wasn't expecting a lot of parts. There was maybe two parts of the movie that I seen coming.

All and all, it's a must see for everybody.

It's surprising to me how many people are bashing it but as you read their complaints it's obvious that these people are just fucking idiots. They were disappointed in the lack of actual horror and gore and that things didn't make sense.

Totally agree. It's original and people have to think outside the norm with this.

Default Project X

Ok this movie has me feeling quite divided. I'm a fan of teenage party movie where highly unrealistic and usually hilarious shit happens and this movie has that in spades. This part I enjoyed and thought it was pretty crazy watching the overall event take place.

The part that has me scratching my head is just how much the consequences and the views of their peers were completely wrong. There was no real bad to the shit they pulled and their peers looked to them as Gods.

Maybe this is why I'm a fucking loser and why I largely never experienced anything like this. Maybe this is why I'm largely unhappy. I just can't let myself go and do completely stupid things. I'm always thinking of the consequences and only let it get so far. Yet I see friends who act like this and they always have people around and seem happy.

In case anybody missed it, kids actually started throwing parties like the ones found in the movie. Except they were doing it in other people's houses or in hotel/motels.

There was no real story, it was a movie that basically showed that while teenagers will always do stupid shit, they're not something to look down on but worship.

Fucking stupid message. If you want to see the nice from the movie just google it and watch the short clips. Really the only good thing to see.

Shyguy, you would like an independent film called "Boy Wonder".

It's not about Robin. It's a dark film about a young man who trains hard and becomes a vigilante.

Washington delivers another solid performance as a type of character he excels at. He plays a rogue CIA agent who is the best they've ever had and Washington easily exudes the calm, confident and extremely dangerous demeanor of his charactor.

This is likely the best movie Reynolds has done and hopefully will allow him to get the exposure to do more serious movies like it. He is completely believable as a very skilled but green CIA agent who is quickly thrown into a situation a million times bigger than he could have ever expected. He does a wonderful job of playing someone who is incredibly driven and capable but is also in shock of the world he now a part of.

Action scenes are great with a shaky field not quite as bad as the Bourne trilogy. A car chase scene is definitely a highlight of the movie and the undertones of the plot are quite disturbing and truly echo Washington's character of Frost, in who is bad and who is good and do such things even exist.

Highly recommend this one.

As a side note, I love it when there is only 2 other people in the theatre with me. I feel like it's a private screening because I get the perfect seat and not a single person is around or in front of me.

We saw this as well. We liked the movie, and Washington was outstanding as the rouge agent.

What i don't understand is why everyone is trashing Battleship. It's just like Independence Day, but with waaaaay better CGI. Plus, it has great shots of my hometown.

Default The Amazing Spider-man

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

In the rankings of comic book movies this one falls in the level of the Incredible Hulk featuring Ed Norton and Iron Man 2. Meaning, it was enjoyable and had its moments but ultimately it's just not anywhere near the likes of previous spider-man movies (excluding number 3 which belongs down there with the first hulk movie and wolverine origins), Iron man and the Avengers.

It suffers mostly from the fact that the story has been told over and over. Yes they go in a bit different way in certain aspects, but really "who cares".

Garfield looks and I truly believe can portray a near perfect Peter Parker but instead of coming off as saddened, hurt, confused, and angry, many moments just seem like he's a selfish emo bitch. The attempt at quick wit and the humour that makes Spider-man who he is, is there however, it often times falls flat. I don't know if this was the delivery of the lines, the lines themselves or something else.

Action is good, the Lizard is alright (still think they fubared the look of his face) and overall the characters make sense.

The other big thing is that this movie is an example of a just over 2 hours long movie that does not need to be that long. Where Spiderman 3 failed because they jammed so much into a small time, this movie drags out completely needless moments. I love when movies are made longer because most great movies need to be. THIS ONE DID NOT.

This is a skip and rent when it comes out. Hence why I went into a little more detail.

Edit: Oh ya, this film is one of the first casualties of the Nolan Batman success. I say that because it tries to be more "real" and dark. Marvel is not meant to be real and dark.

I saw this about two weeks ago and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Ryan Reynolds has done dramas, rom-coms, action movies, thrillers, SciFi, a comic book movie and Scarlett Johansson.
This guy is awesome!

Garfield looks and I truly believe can portray a near perfect Peter Parker but instead of coming off as saddened, hurt, confused, and angry, many moments just seem like he's a selfish emo bitch.

I think a member here was the inspiration for Garfield's portrayal of PP

Don't forget that Ryan Reynolds was the guy who leaked Scarlett's nude photos to the internet.

That makes up for the suck of Green Lantern.

Went to see it last night... didn't thought it was that bad... but not that good either... i like more Tobey McGuire as Spiderman... didn't bought Garfield as Spidey... Really liked Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, looks really good as a blonde. Didn't like Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane in the first 3 Spidey movies...

I hope to see Kingpin in the next one as the main vilain.

I'll be seeing a bunch more movies soon though, especially The Amazing Spiderman and The Dark Knight Rises.

What i don't understand is why everyone is trashing Battleship. It's just like Independence Day, but with waaaaay better CGI. Plus, it has great shots of my hometown.
i just seen this post and agree! i enjoyed it and if i wasn`t so cheap, spend money to see it again. also on the lines of "Battle: Los Angeles".
