That is sorry. If a player worth his salt saw this I'm sure the little girl would be awarded a ball, and maybe a bat too. I saw something similar at a Braves game, and Brian McCann did just that. Plus bought dogs, nachos and drinks for the little boys family. Everyone applauded for about four minutes and the game was held up temporarily.

Actually, I think the rule is the one who has a clear (uncontested) possession of the ball gets to bring it home.
The woman got the ball according to the rules. Understandably we feel shit about the little girl, I do too, but the rule applies to all, even to little boys and girls.
Despite all the abuse you're heaping on the woman, if you study the video in slo-mo the kid didn't actually have the ball. The ball bounced towards her and she and the woman both grabbed it at the same time. One of the kids hands was on the back of the womans hand. Looks a reasonably fair grab to me.
Popular opinion says it's the kids because she was just a little girl and the woman was bigger and stronger. As far as I can see she was also faster.
