Arguing that President Obama could do anything he wanted defies reality. Moderate Democrats, or Blue Dogs were not his to be had. Maybe that's the difference with D's and R's but he never had 60 votes in the Senate at his disposal. People paying attention know this.

Poop, can you name for me the last Republican President to not increase the debt and defecit? Why should I be encouraged by Gov. Romney or any other Republican as it relates to this?

Because we can't blame Bush when he had to also work with the Democrats but then blame the Republicans when Obama had a majority.
I don't want to blame everything on Obama. I just want him to accept some responsibility. And, in reality, its the liberals on here who just can't seem to bring themselves to say, "Yeah, Obama has some blame here". Three years into his presidency, we're still at 8.2% unemployment.
Jesus Christ, if he'd just take some responsibility instead on constantly blaming Bush.
If you read Bush's book after his presidency, you can call him a moron, idiot, evil or whatever. But, the man takes responsibility for his actions. That's all people really want from a leader. I see no leadership from Obama. That's my biggest complaint. And, we can't say we didn't see it coming - he had never been a mayor (yet never missed an oppt to bash Palin's mayoral experience...the irony) or a governor or CEO.

Ok, when was the last time Obama publicly blamed Bush?
I understand if you are frustrated with his supporters, but I'm not sure if Obama is the proper object of your frustration.

And Poop has no reason that I or anyone else should be encouraged by Governor Romney as it relates to the debt and defecit.

I am not here trying to convince you to not vote D across the ticket. I am confident that you will. That is your prerogative.
I asked a very simple question which has nothing to do with Romney nor does it have anything to do with Obama.
If $4 Trillion in debt over 8 years is unpatriotic then what is $5 Trillion in debt in 3 1/2 years?
I have seen lots of diatribe from water bearers but not one answer

Who said anything about a straight ticket? Poop do you think there is anyone who believes that you are anything but an R ticket? Is that what you want this discussion to be about?
Poop, again, which Republican President lowered the debt or balanced the budget? Which one? Just asking.

not one liberal poster is willing to answer a very simple question
It was said by the current POTUS that $4 Trillion in debt over 8 years was unpatriotic
That same person who made the statement now has added over $5 Trillion in 3 1/2 years. So, what is that called if $4 Trillion in 8 years is unpatriotic? It really is a simple question yet for you and others, you refuse to answer because it's like taking one right between the eyes
the man does a lot of talking, and mean a LOT OF TALKING, it's time he becomes accountable for all of his pontificating of the past.
and fwiw, he is the POTUS and has been for 3 1/2 years. he is the one who made the bold statements and assurances; please try and stay on topic will ya

The answer to that depends on how you look at the political system of the past..
If you see the dems of today as the DEMS of the 1800s then its one thing and if you think like many others believe the Dems and GOP switched ideals during that time then the answer changes..

If he considers the lesser number unpatriotic, then sure. It makes sense that he should consider this worse. That being said there has been no fiscally responsible Republican, certainly not in my lifetime to point to and say, "the debt decreased during his term." So to pretend as if there is some high road to be taken by the opposition party is simply laughable.
If the intent was to point out some President Obama hypocrisy I get that. Still, why should I be encouraged by Gov. Romney or any other Republican as it relates to this?

Not really trying to build a strawman, but I can see why you said that. Fair enough. The point I made was absolutely true about Republican presidents and the debt, it is what it is. If anyone thinks that a Romney presidency will mean reduced debt, please tell me whay. That is the question that I asked and it is completely fair.
I am not sure what you mean by ad hominem attack. IWP made this observation about me, "I am not here trying to convince you to not vote D across the ticket. I am confident that you will. "
I simply asked a question about what the perception is about his likely vote. Nothing at all wrong with that.

As for a GOP president fixing the debt some could argue that Bush Sr. Started the process and Clinton ran with it during his term.
One of the few things I liked about Bush Sr and that is he was willing to take the hit and do what was best for the nation even if it did cost him a 2nd term. Clinton then took those raised taxes and ran with them and grew them even more...
Bush Jr and Obama on the other hand dont seem to be willing to take the same sort of hit Bush Sr was and neither is really do anything to fix the economy or the spending in gov...
I am not going to be voting Rep or Dem in this coming election and I havent since I began voting... But I do think that out of the two that Rom would prob be the one willing to take the hit more so than Obama..

Romney knows that if he is elected that it is a mandate to cut spending. If he doesn't, then he is one and done. He will not be elected because he has swagger or is cool. He'll get elected to go be an executive and to do the job,.

So you know of no GOP Presidents who have lowered the debt, that's what I remember
too.

You get what you pay for
I think what's unpatriotic are people who, in the midst of the worst economic downturn since probably the Great Depression, expect their Government to work at optimum level while paying less in taxes (and asking to pay even less) when compared to the last 40 years.
