Status of part 3, answers to some questions, the story of how this shoot came to be, and some things about the shoot you might find interesting.
Ok the third and final part of the shoot I plan to post is nearly done. For this one I decided to make 3 videos instead of 2, and the 10 photos I've selected for part 3 are ready to go.
I've finished the first two videos. The first one required syncing video from two sources(the GoPro I wore on my head during the shoot and my Canon T5 which I used for the S&F greeting) as well as blurring out the face of a bystander(I thought you might find it interesting to see how many people were around during the shoot). The second video was fast, because it's just her telling a short story from a camping trip with some very amusing descriptions of the strange clothing some people she ran into were wearing. I'm about 3/4 done with the last(a collection of clips similar to "Araina posing on fallen trees", only much MUCH longer)
I keep thinking about how hard my teenage self would laugh at the idea that someday editing video of a gorgeous naked woman would wind up not just on my list of weekend "chores", but the one that frequently gets bumped to the next week.

1- Aye she certainly is.
2- Thank you though I'm not so sure about that yet. I do think I did ok for a beginner.
3- I'm assuming you mean me, though Fargo (Where I live) is actually 200 miles north(and 800 miles west) of Toronto(where she lives and we shot).
While I'd love to have her come here and shoot, the travel expenses would be huge and even if we paid for her travel taking that much time wouldn't make sense unless we were going to do a LOT of shooting.
For this shoot I was already in Toronto partly to visit friends and partly for a giant fan convention(Toronto's Fan Expo). The good news is that trip has been an annual event for me for a several years now and barring something unexpected I'll do it again in 2016. When I go I'll try to schedule at least one shoot with her (and perhaps a few other models).
4- Once I'm sure I'm going next year and have scheduled some shoots I might take a look at some way those of you who felt like chipping in could help offset my costs. (Patreon maybe?) In any case that won't happen until next summer.
We're probably well into TL;DR territory here but I think I'll go ahead and tell some of the story about how this shoot came to happen even though it'll easily double(or triple) the length of this post.
Now most models are hesitant to shoot with a new photographer and with good reason. However was a bit easier for me because I already knew Araina and had even wound up assisting her with a photography workshop before.
We met at the 2011 Fan Expo where she was working with one of my friends. After chatting for a while we exchanged social media contacts and stayed in touch afterward via tweets and FB comments.
When I came out for the 2012 Expo I asked if we'd have a chance to hang out and she said her whole weekend was booked with work, but a few hours of that on Friday would be working the Expo. However, during that time on Friday we somehow kept missing each other. Friday night we were chatting on IM, I felt bad that I wouldn't see her this year, and she went over her schedule again. When she mentioned that her Sunday morning job was a sunrise photography workshop I commented that it was too bad that I wasn't a photographer because then I could sign up for it. She replied that the workshop was on a public beach, and if I "happened" to show up it's not like they could kick me out, and she gave me directions.
I arrived a little early for the workshop and felt out of place when everyone else there had a lot of camera equipment. When Araina arrived she greeted me first and then immediately asked if my cellphone was capable of shooting video. She'd been hoping to add some BTS video from a workshop to her website, and asked if I'd be willing to shoot it for her. I said I'd be happy to and while I dug out my phone she took off her shorts and panties. I started recording just as she began to walk across the beach while pulling her shirt over her head and kicking off her sandals. Did I forget to mention this was a nude photography workshop?
Fortunately Araina chose to post this video to Vimeo.
Unfortunately cellphone cameras don't work well in dim light, but it gets better as the sunlight increases.
I shot until my phone's battery died, and then I kicked myself for not having saved some of the battery for later parts of the shoot. Particularly when one of the photographers brought his motorcycle down to the path beside the beach, and she posed naked on the bike while people walked by. During the later parts of the shoot I helped out whenever I could bringing props like an umbrella and some colored lengths of fabric to her, and occasionally when she asked, taking a photo of her with her phone, but mostly I just stood around and watched.
My favorite moment of the shoot though was technically after it was over. After they had finished, everyone was just standing around talking. Araina had gotten dressed again and was talking to one of the photographers about scheduling a shoot with him. Most of the photographers were talking to each other, and a couple of them were asking me about my trip. One of the photographers raised his voice and asked "Araina, would you pose for a photo with me, and can I get someone to take the picture?" Several people responded yes, almost everyone added "I'd like a photo with her too", and Araina replied with a big grin, "Sure, I'd love to!". Then she stripped back out of her clothes in under a heartbeat. Now everyone there had just spent 3 hours watching her naked, but that was for a paid nude shoot, these were something extra just personal photos for the photographers and I think everyone was surprised and delighted that she chose to do them naked without even being asked. I know I was and I saw the expression on face of the first guy who asked as she undressed and he was stunned too.
In 2014 an artist friend of mine was learning photography so he could take his own reference pictures to draw from. Having heard the story of me tagging along to the workshop, he made sure that Araina was one of the models he would shoot. Hearing his stories plus his advice on how to get started is what convinced me to buy a decent DSLR before my 2015 trip, so I could give it a try for myself.
For this shoot I knew that I wanted it to be outdoors, and Araina had mentioned she enjoyed shooting at the Hanlan's point end of Toronto Island before. Since the beach there is clothing optional the biggest challenge would actually be avoiding accidentally photographing other naked people. So the day of the shoot dawned clear, calm, and hot. I went out to the island about an hour before we were supposed to meet to scout, and found that the weather had sent a veritable horde to beach. Despite it being Tuesday, the clothing optional beach at Hanlan's point was packed from end to end which would make shooting on the beautiful beach impossible.
After I met Araina at the ferry landing we went up past the beach where I'd found a quiet spot on the shore. (Here's the google street view of the greeting video spot) So no pretty sand, but the upside was the fallen logs in the water which I thought would make for some good photos. We started by shooting the video greeting for S&F(Which you'll get to see in the BTS video in part 3). After that we shot in the clearing first before moving to the shore. When we moved to the fallen logs I was happy to be shooting from the water side because the cold lake felt great in the heat of the day. Then we took a break (When she told me about the weird outfits she saw during a camping trip the previous weekend) before moving to some large concrete blocks. After shooting there for a little while I suggested that we mix things up a bit by having her put on a dress and then play with pulling it aside(Until this point all the photos had her just straight up naked).
The last part of the shoot was just using the GoPro to take pictures(which didn't turn out so well) and Video(which turned out better than I'd hoped) underwater. The hard part of this is that camera has no screen which meant without digging out my phone and connecting it to the camera I had no way to tell how things were turning out. When we were done shooting we just hung around talking for 10-15 minutes. Then I packed up my gear, she put everything except her sandals into her backpack, and we started walking back toward the ferry landing.
Like the 2012 workshop my favorite part of this shoot was also after it was technically over. Because when I said "she put everything except her sandals into her backpack" that included her clothes. We walked nearly halfway to the ferry (The snack bar and Tennis courts were just coming into view, that's half a KM or 1/3 of a mile) before she stopped to pull a dress out of her bag and put it on. As I mentioned the island was very busy and there were many people walking by us(and even a couple of those stretch golf cart things that shuttle people around) and Araina was walking along wearing just sandals as if nothing unusual was going on.
So that's the story of the shoot. Probably not as much fun as the photos and videos themselves, but hopefully worth reading.
Part 3 with the videos and photos should be along in a couple weeks... or maybe a month... sometime before the heat death of the universe?
Ok it's been more than a couple weeks, and even more than a month, but I did get the final update in before the heat death of the Universe so I'm calling this on time.
First up the Behind the Scenes footage of shooting her greeting for S&F.
Now a few photos...
During a water break(Ye gods it was hot that day) Araina was telling me about some strangely dressed people she ran into while camping the weekend before the shoot.
I thought her descriptions were amusing enough to be worth sharing.
Some more photos...
A really really REALLY long collection of Araina posing.
I'd originally only intended this to be 10 minutes or so, but couldn't make up my mind about what to cut (too much good stuff).
Sorry about the quality but this is all footage from a GoPro I had strapped to my head while taking photos with my DSLR. So she generally wasn't well centered in frame and when you crop stuff out and zoom in on the subject the video quality suffers.
This is the last stuff from this shoot. I hope everyone enjoyed it.
I'm still not 100% certain I'll be back there this year but if I do go I hope to shoot with her and a few other models as well. So hopefully I'll have more to share in several months(Oct-Nov ish).
