Should the Hunter be allowed to choose his kill-Night Round

if the hunter's kill isn't restricted to the wolves after he gets killed at night, his role becomes far less important than what we've been playing in the last ~90 games. ie, he gets killed by the wolves and picks a random person in the villager for his kill, chances are taking another villager down with him.

he suddenly becomes a person the wolves don't mind killing during the night. chances are it'll just result in a double villager kill anyway. it changes everything.

I still say no, keep it at random.org for the killing. But I do like what Timmy mentioned about having the Hunter, send in his pick to the Mod if/when that person is lynched. But, I still think that gives the Hunter almost too much power. Plus they could kill one person that they dislike, which I know we try not to do since this is a forum. But shit happens.

I know that I have been going around in a circle, my mind does that a lot. But I still think that my final word is that let random.org do the killing. worked in the past, I have had no problems with it.

The other catch to everything is that if we're downgrading the hunter's ability, are we going to downgrade his point value as well? The value he was given is in respect to the abilities he possesses, and if that changes, it would make sense to reduce its value.

And like moose mentioned to kahlil, the hunter receiving the list of wolves is just because the wolves actually attacked him (you were attacked during the night, these are the people whom you can choose one to take with you, ergo, these are the wolves). If he were lynched, he wouldn't know the roles of the people who voted for him, just that these people are going to attack him at the end of the day.

Additionally, his ability could backfire if he were attacked by both the witch and the wolves at night as there is an attack priority which means the witch will be the one getting blasted and then the wolves show up and realize they missed the party.

And if the hunter kill will be picked at random from the whole player population, that role would become a liability in future games and the hunter might end up getting dropped from play. I think it would be best if we could settle on something other than this.

I like Timmay's take except for one point; please address why the hunter gets to see the wolves in the tabletop version but not in the forums? In the game he gets tapped on the shoulder to choose from the wolves, yes?

Before we go on about too much or too little power I want to see if there is any grey area here.

I get you. It's like finding out what happens after you scratch before you break.

But I know if Timmay posted that long bit he must have rethought that part but he did not mention why he chose to ignore the tabletop approach.

It might be like you say, that we have always done it that way, or it might be because he feels it's a better adaptation. I am requesting clarification.

The change was only because of potential time zone conflicts, so random.org was used. I made the suggestion that if they're around, they pick, if they're not, then back to random.org
