Yes, I know.

What I don't know how that has anything to do with the current situation.

Oh, I know! You're bringing back your false equivalency routine. That makes sense. It's pathetic, but it's par for the course.

Of course, without the cuts that Trump would have been expecting from the AHCA, he really doesn't have the maneuverability that he'll need to actually pull off tax reform, so he'll probably default to a Bush-style tax cut. Of course, because most of those were kept in place by Obama, the tax cuts are by default going to help rich people more, so he'll explode the deficit while getting even more bad PR.

And that's not even talking about an infrastructure bill, which Republicans have for some reason or the other declared DOA.
Last I heard about the infrastructure proposal, it was just tax incentives for if somebody happened to decide that rebuilding a California dam's spillway was a good way to spend a Saturday night. You're telling me they couldn't even pass that? JFC, we really have nothing to fear from this administration.

(But, y'know, the real story is how the media is so mean to such a nice man like Trump )
On that note, there was an article which I apologize for not posting, which argued that Dealmaker Trump isn't what we need right now. Specifically, it noted that while he was very pleased with himself for convincing Carrier(?) to keep those 7K jobs in this country, he'd need to make about three dozen such deals every week just to keep up with population growth, never mind actually Making America Great Again. We don't need a dealmaker, we need a policymaker.

Not having a good week, huh, Sparky?

The GOP will likely use the nuclear option to confirm Gorsuch. Therefore, for ever after, it will only take 51 votes to confirm a SCOTUS nominee.

Harry Reid changed the super majority to simple majority and set the precedent.

So, if Trump wants to shove a hot poker up the Dems' asses he will nominate a hard core conservative who the Dems would now have no hope whatsoever of opposing. Say, when RBG finally kicks the bucket.

That's how it is relevant.

Honest question: do you just keep asking that hoping that you'll be right about my week sucking just once or something? Because I'm not gonna lie: my life is pretty fuckin' great.

Anyway, Reid: not relevant to the discussion because he's not in office. You know who is relevant? McConnell. Who threw a shit fit when Reid removed the threshold in 2013, yet when he was in charge of the Senate since 2014, just decided "lol jk itz cool"? Who bitched and moaned about ruining the parliamentary procedure of the Senate but now is saying, "don't worry about that"? McConnell.

Make no mistake: I don't ultimately understand the endgame for Democrats here besides making it easier to get their candidates in when the Senate inevitably swings back to them (which probably won't happen until 2020). But blaming a person who isn't even in the picture anymore is pretty fucking stupid.

A person's bad decision doesn't expire when they leave office.

You guys spent 8 years blaming Bush for Obama's woes.

Reid tinkered with Senate rules and its coming back to fuck the Dems. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics...senate/513782/

When Congress literally decides what its rules are at the beginning of each "meeting," yeah, they actually do.

Ok, so its no big deal that the GOP is changing the rules to suit them on this SCOTUS thing. Cool.

That's probably the first/only time we didn't have a prolonged argument.
