Solved: One-click Playing WMP files in Firefox 3 - Page 2

still having problems. I use FF on my mac, chrome for my pc. I tried what you said only I got the flip4mac thing on my mac... duh) but still neither works. On my pc it gives me a media player screen, only the play button doesnt work, and the little bar spins indeffinitly. My mac also has the bar spinning, but only a blank, white screen...

I really can't help much beyond what I stumbled thru and discovered above, and I am having new problems too. I'm having to save the videos on FF and Chrome both now.

Why don't you open a new Help Needed thread in the main support forum.

And give a link to one thread with a video you cannot play. Don't say "any of them" as that skips needed info.

Thanks to all contributors here. I have recently changed over to FF after hitting issues with IE but found I couldn't view WMP files when I tried today.

I've followed advice here and am back up and running now

Well good~! I need to figure out how I screwed mine up again, but glad some are benefiting...!!

Edit: Ok I disabled every Add-on and Plug-in except Download Helper and Google Toolbar and solved my problem. They one-click play again.

Now to turn on one-by-one and test again until I find the one that was blocking. What a drag, but one of them was causing the problem as suspected.

Edit: Okay, got that sucker fixed...!

First I re-enabled each Add-on Extension, in groups so save time as I had to restart FF each time before testing. For these tests, I used a small WMP attachment in Funny Vids under 2 Mb to save time. No problems - one-click playing still works.

Then I went for the Plug-ins, re-enabling in groups and testing. Here at least I did not have to restart FF. Narrowed the problem down to two problem plug-ins, now left disabled: Both Windows Media Player plug-ins - same as mention in post #1 I think, duh! I should have read that again huh? I guess one of those got turned back on somehow.

I still had problems on Chrome, unable to one-click play WMP attachments; I don't know where Chrome Add-ons are, but went back over my post #1 and tried that again. Worked

Well, you guys are taking advice from a fumbling amateur who never took a course or read the beginners book. Glad that my discoveries have help. Dumb luck is wonderful.
