If I knew what they were, I might, but since I've never heard of them, I'm guessing I don't have any.

I had a bunch of geckos in Hawaii, but I wouldn't necessarily call them pets. They just came in and ate the cockroaches. I thought they were cool, except when they laughed at me.

My previous ownership of a savannah monitor probably won't help here but for leopard geckos, there's an app for that.
http://www.leopardgecko.com/leopard-gecko-care

However one thing I do discourage for reptile owners is use of the "hot rock" an electric platform in the shape of a rock that generates heat.
Hot rocks have two problems:
1. They get too hot. Lizards like to be hot so they'll just sit there and cook.
2. They are cheap electric devices and have a tendency to short out.
So right there, those are two things that will kill a small lizard packed into one device.

i sat for hours last weekend and today reading about them on various sites, you name them, i've been there and read what they had to say. i know a lot about reptiles, i have about 30 corn snakes, about 24 different morphs. i have 2 brazilian rainbow boas(the most beautiful snake in the world, imo). i how to regulate humidity, i know how to dry hides and wet hides and how to regulate temps from side of the cage to the other side. i know how breed and incubate eggs, and my boas are live bearers.

what i am looking for is just someone with hands on experience to chat with back and forth when i have questions without going to another forum looking for help from people i really don't know.

im with garison on this one, never had them as a pet... seen them in the stores when i lived in cali... here in hawaii they are out and about. we used to catch chameleons, not jacksons, but rather things that looked like the geico gecko more than our geckos looked like the geico gecko... anyways, i digress.

good luck in your seach. we used to feed our chameleons mealworms and crickets we bought at koolau pets at the mall...

Yes. For cooking lizards, your oven is more reliable. Alternatively, you could saute them in a little olive oil.

Lizards aren't fluffy. I would trade them in for a bunny.

I didn't know you were a reptile hobbyist (though with the amount you have you could probably start your own business)!

You probably already know about sand impaction and not to feed them on sandy surfaces, so I won't give you a hassle there. When I used a heat rock the way I did it was I got another fake rock and put it over the heat rock so the heat transferred but not enough to cook the poor little guy.

There's a chick who's pretty knowledgeable on Youtube, Megg90 is her Youtube handle, you might want to try contacting her- she might be able to help.

I've never owned Leopard Geckos myself, my Zoology lab has one. No crested geckos either.

I keep fish at the moment, and my biggest drive when keeping any animal is to provide as realistic an environment for them as I can.

(my Asian Leaf fish is currently hunting the feeder guppies I raised).

you are so right about the environment. i have a 40gal breeder tank for my brazilian rainbow boas. there is probably about $200-$300 tied up in that tank alone. i have about 12 10gal tanks and 2 20gal tanks for my corn snakes. hell, i already have over a $100 in the tank for the geckos already. my daughter has also started a 30gal aquarium. she has only test fish in there right now, but that is starting to add up too.

and yes, i do sell my snakes. i put it toward my kids car fund

Once I'm done with school I am thinking of going into the Navy, saving up as much money as possible (including sign on bonuses) and then setting up my own Animal Store. I'm going to do my shit up right, NONE of my tanks that I sell fish from will be empty lifeless boxes like they have in most. Each one is going to be planted and decorated.

I'm glad you set up natural environments too! Happy animals are healthy animals, I'm currently waiting for a batch of Assassin Snails to come in so I can get some of Nature's Remedy for the bastards who are clusterfucking my tank atm! XD

My little Fire Eel (who I named Punk, because he curls through the floating plants and just chills out there) is currently hunting the little baby guppies in my community tank.

Good plan RE: Car fund!

I'd love to see some pics of your animals!
