Stupid Thieves
So, I'm going to tell you about some stupid people who robbed from us in the past couple of days.
In case you didn't know, I'm an electrician. I've been doing electrical work in the oil fields. We have a trailer out there that we keep all our equipment in that we need to do the job.
The day after fourth of July, which was yesterday, we get to work to find out that our trailer, including some of the other workers on the site, had been broken into and items were taken. I went through our trailer and seen that our bandsaw, shovels, threader, generator, and socket sets were missing. Now, I want to remind you that this is an "electrician" trailer. They stole the threader but didn't take all the dies. They only took a 3/4 die. This trailer is full of copper wire but they didn't take any of that. They took about 5000 dollars worth of equipment and there was, maybe, 20,000 dollars worth of wire in that trailer. Freaking idiots.
From the other trailers, they took their valves. I ask myself, why would they steal that?
Anyways, continuing with the story. Of course now, everybody is on high alert and want to make sure that this does not happen again. The oil company decided to hire a temporary night watchmen to keep an eye on the site.
We brought in our other crew and their trailer. At the end of the day we would back up both of our trailers, back to back, so nobody would be able to get to the door.
Today, we left work for home at 6:00. It's an hour drive back home so we got home at 7. Thirty min later I receive a phone call that we got jacked again. So I headed back out there to see that our trailer was pulled apart and the doors opened. The bastards tied the chain to the trailer and pulled breaking the trailer jack. Proceeded to go to the door and sledgehammered the lock off of the doors. Stole the other power equipment that was in the other trailer. But again, didn't steal the wire.
The fuckers got caught though. Now, pay attention to this time frame.
The consultant on site left the site a little after 7. The guy who was hired to watch the place at night showed up a little late. About 25 min after 7. He said when he pulled up, he seen a truck pulling out. He thought maybe it was one of the workers. Been when he pulled further into the site, he noticed all the trailer doors were open. Six total trailers. He raced after the truck that pulled out. Same time dialing and talking to the police. He said he stayed with them going 95 MPH from Oklahoma to Texas. He followed until police arrived and pulled them over. Their truck was loaded with equipment from all 6 trailers. Only four guys did this. FOUR thieves. Managed to ransack 6 trailers and also pull two apart in a matter of less than half an hour. It amazes me.
Fuckers.

It's getting bad...They are breaking into schools during the summer and stripping all the wire out of them...but the only place you can turn it in for money won't require sign in I.D.s or take pics of who brings in loads of used wire...DUMB!

I'm very familiar with some of the equipment you named, and it's apparent they took only items they could turn over quickly. By the way, no one ever said you had to be smart to be a criminal, as these a-holes proved. Glad they were caught.

We haven't got nothing back yet. The police still need to find other missing items and sort out what belongs to who.

Copper wire is hard to get paid for, at least here in Tx anyways. Seeing how they were going from OK. to TX. I can't believe they didn't take the wire hoping the distance would keep them from being caught. Heard the stories of the fucking idiots climbing the poles and stripping the wire and getting electrocuted. It is big money fast. Surprised they didn't bring a trailer and take your ditchwitch. That happen here sometimes.

They could easily sell wire in KS. Where we were, it was only an hour to get from KS to TX. They could have brought the wire there, as long as it doesn't reach a certain amount, then it's legal.

is it any different than taking from non working men? I think stealing is stealing regardless and they absolutely suck..
my tools were stolen on job too, I had just purchased for my new company .. dumb arses why take my cordless drill when did not have a charger for it. We had just bought propane heaters for the job, 3 of them new in box unopened--the whole house units, worth 300 apiece they left those... -- yeah not to bright are thieves the propane units would have sold so fast but a cordless drill you have to find a mofo with the same drill and I know they dont know anyone with a $120 now 179.00 right angle drill..
bastards

There are a lot of problems with thieves were I live as well. 1% of the population is stealing from 99% percent of the population. And they wonder why they never have any money. They even attack the protesters trying to help them. I think its the same in your country too. At least the thieves at your site got caught. I'm always giving the police the addresses of those city crooks, but they never seem to do anything about it.
