Would you follow this girl's actions???
MEREDITH, N.H. -- An Inter-Lakes eighth-grader is getting praise for returning a wallet filled with hundreds of dollars to its owner.
Dakota Edwards, 14, said she found the wallet recently while waiting for the school bus in Center Harbor on Route 25 B.
Edwards said the wallet was full of several $100 bills. She said the first thing she did when she found the wallet was hand it over to her principal.
Principal Everett Bennett found a receipt inside the wallet with the cellphone number of the man who had dropped his wallet. Bennett contacted Mark Polito, of North Reading, Mass., who said he had been riding his motorcycle when he hit a frost heave and dropped the wallet.
Polito said no money was missing, and as a thank-you to the teen for her honesty, he handed her a $100 bill.
Edwards said she was just doing what she thought was the right thing, and she said if ever confronted with a similar circumstance again, she'd do it again.

There are only a select few with the will strong enough to do that. With everyone else, once they see those hundreds human greed takes over and that money will never be seen again.
As for what I would do....

I have done the same growing up (about 10 years old). A store clerk dropped several $100s on the floor. I saw them and gave them to her, I was rewarded with a few nice Candy Bars and some baseball cards. to her!

20+ purses, wallets, cellphones--in the subway while inspecting the third rail would find wallets and purses daily... btw that job is scary kewl---big arse rats and hoodlums
the postal service will mail them to the owner if you do find a wallet/purse with id's.. you can just throw it in a mail box it will get returned to owner by p.o. .. well it used to be that way with cuts and such who knows...
one guy gave me a sweet 10 bucks for his cell return was sweeeeeet i never expected a return but he insisted..

Yes, I would return the wallet intact. And good on this young lady's parents for raising an honest child.
Zapparules, I think it's actually "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you".

Have done it before, and would do it again. Someone had to earn the contents in the first place and just because they lost their wallet or purse doesn't mean they loose the right to what's in it.
It's good to know that there are still people that will think of others before themselves. Good for the girl, and everyone who agrees!

+1 for doing the right thing.
Have returned wallets to people in the past, and have had mine returned with cash still in it.

I'd keep it. I was raised with no morals or ethics. Am I the only person on here who is not a lair? I'm old school, if it were important to him, he would not have been so careless. If the girl would have kept it, I bet he would have learned a valuable lesson. That's how stupid people learn lessons. I know, the PC answer is to say I would return it, does that make me a bad person?
That answer up there^^^^^^ some days, I really want to be that way. Seriously, I would have returned.

I probably would return it, unless I saw someone being a complete dick and they just happened to lose something and I found it... then I would have fun with it.

Everytime I find myself in such situation, returning it is my instant reflex.
Next is regret and doubt.
Every single time.
